Going Digital

Today, the analogue TV signal was turned off in my hometown.

The Train Station

Living on campus at university, I've no need to catch any sort of transport to get to class - I just need my own two legs. The train station is located, for a vast majority of students, at least a 10 minute walk away from their desired location, unless you're an engineering or architecture student in which case the time can be halved. The station is geographically in the next suburb over but on the borderline.

I've been at uni for four years and on Friday, I walked to that station which many thousands of students have done a hundred times over, for the first time. This piece of information was laughable and proceeded with a few looks of shocks and 'really?' Yes really and if I ever catch a train (which is rarely as the bus suffices) it's never from that station.

Yesterday I brought the entire year's worth of notes (4 and a half large binders) along with so me of the recommended texts to uni for a practise oral exam, (which is open book) and now my shoulders are hurting so much! I had to use 2 green bags plus my big uni bag and it took me twice as long to get to uni because I was walking extremely slow. Need to do some good stretches and have some nice hot showers and I should be feeling ok in the next few days. One more lecture until STUVAC time. gyah!

Food Adventures

A combination of being busy and forgetting have resulted in me not posting for over a month. whoops. 

Lots of food porn spam to come soon from; my birthday, the holidays and the Malaysia festival from last weekend.

I am also contemplating potential new year's resolutions.

Productive

• Placement in the morning
• Lunch
• Booked my birthday dinner
• Went to uni to find out class was cancelled which is both good and bad
• Good because it meant I got to do groceries earlier and
• Bad because that means catch-up lectures will be scheduled soon.
• Did groceries
• Doing some laundry now and just chilling in the lounge room biding my time until dinner.

Winter Blues

After a brief warm spell a few weeks ago, I am unkindly reminded of the fact that it is, in fact, still winter. The weather has been slowly cooling down again, I'm wearing my coat again and it even rained today.

I am slowly getting back into my uni routine. Went and saw the Medicine Revue last night which was very enjoyable; funny jokes, lovely music and good dancing.

Ebay has been kind to me lately as well. Have bought 2 things this week :)

Last weekend of holidays :(

Tomorrow, I fly back to Sydney as uni starts up again on Monday :( boo, I enjoy holidays sooo much. Work was good too. Having an income! even just for a few weeks is so nice.

I'm hoping to organise a trip to Brisbane during semester and an overseas trip for the end of the year with a friend.

I also hope that I will have A LOT more motivation towards my studies than this past semester (well, all of them really)

Harry Potter

I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; Part 2 on Wednesday, 13 July.

I really, really enjoyed. My friend and I were so excited when it finally started after all the trailers and ads. The Harry Potter movies are now complete! wow!

I finished my last exam for the semester on Friday, what a relief! We went and had lunch at a ramen place afterwards; I got curry and rice, yummm.

Since then I have been sleeping in :) and went to an expo on Saturday where lots of freebies were scored. :) That's about it really. Starting work next week if there are any hours available.

Back to uni

It’s Saturday which means sleep in day! :) We went to Yum Cha this morning which was nice start to the weekend. It’s the first week back at uni since holidays, so it’s half relaxing, half panic-y as there is a big report to get started on! Gyaah!

I’m hoping the rest of my exam marks from the first half of semester come out soon.  The faculty said all marks would be out by the end of the week, it’s Saturday and they’re not out. Hmmm. 

I had a pretty good break, I had a one week placement which went well. I learnt a lot. :)There really is nothing like getting experience. Theory can only get you so far.  

5 day weekend

Currently entering the last day of it. Though I'm starting placement tomorrow, so technically I've had a 4 day weekend...but I've been on holidays for a week so it doesn't really matter anyway hahah.

It was my friend's 21st party the other day and her actual birthday today. It's also ANZAC day and Easter Monday. So many events on the same day. So... Happy Birthday! Lest we forget and Happy Easter.
This is the first time ANZAC and easter have been over the same weekend (in my memory), hence the 5 day long weekend.

I stayed at home today and was being domestic; did some laundry and mopped the floor. Just doing some research now for a group assignment until I get bored of it, which will be soon haha

Cupcakes and the weekend

A couple of girls made cupcakes for the class for our tute yesterday. There were chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing or vanilla cupcakes with icing and sprinkles. I got a chocolate one and it was delicious.

Drivers are continually annoying me these days, from getting beeped when I'm already ON a pedestrial crossing to having a cranky lady yelling at me when whilst I crossed a road when the green 'walk now' light (she was trying to turn left while I was walking across the road, I get right of way being the pedestrian) was showing. And what confuses me is that they then speed towards red lights where they have to stop anyway. So overall, how much time do they save? None! *sigh*

The weekend is here :) Time to do a lot of study though but on the bright side, sleeping in hehe

Cyclone Yasi

She was the biggest cyclone to ever hit Australia and she hit the north east coast.

Luckily Cairns, where I live came out of it relatively unscathed compared to other towns further south. A lot of people still don’t power and for some, no rooves, literally. Many thoughts are with those in Innisfail, Tully and everywhere and everyone else affected by Yasi. Slowly and surely, this state can and will rebuild itself.

Australia Day

It’s Australia day!  So Happy Australia Day! How nice to have a public holiday on Wednesday! Not that I work full time but if I did this would be very welcome. School’s also started/starting this week.

The rain has finally stopped and the sun is shining brightly and hotly. I should make my way to the beach soon.

Aside from working, I’ve done quite a bit of shopping and heaps of cleaning. the house is slowly getting cleaned up and out. yay!

Be sure not to forget all those affected by the terrible floods in Queensland and  Victoria. I’m fortunate enough to live in the 25% of Queensland that didn’t flood.
