Finished uni!

Results are out and I'm  going to graduate with my undergrad degree. Yay!

Also today is 12/12/12 which is apparently exciting as we won't see the date like that again in our lifetime. 

Walking

Had a lovely walk today, I walked to bosch theatre today from home which I rarely do anymore. I then took a couple of photos of the construction work that’s been underway for over a year now. On my way back home, I had some food from the food van that parks in the corner opposite seven eleven. It’s just standard takeaway food, skewers of meat and burgers such as egg and bacon, chicken and smoked salmon. There are also lollies, fruit, chocolate and softdrinks available. It mainly serves hospital staff on their lunch breaks like most of the food places in this street. It’s the first time I’ve serviced this van and I’ve probably walked past it at least a hundred times these past few years. A nice Asian man runs it and sometimes I wonder how hot he must get during summer.

Next I should try the café on the corner of my apartment building. I’ve visited the café on the other corner but not this one yet.

On Thursday I tried the little chinese place near the bus stop on missenden Rd. Like the food van, I have walked past and even waited right in front of this shop at least a hundred times. I bought a box of 6 dim sum and they were very big! needed more sauce though. Of course, they were not as good as my mother makes but were tasty nonetheless and seeing as I hadn't had breakfast, my stomach was finally being filled and thankful for it. This was at about 2pm. I ate half of them and saved the rest. I was still hungry and it took some self control to not eat the whole box as I was going to enjoy some lovely cafe food in the next few hours so I didn't want to fill up on them.

I met up with RY and ST for afternoon tea at clipper cafe. That was delicious and I was so glad to see those two again. I hadn't properly caught up with RY pretty much all year and saw the last time I saw ST was a few months ago at her birthday. I got baked eggs with chorizo and RY had a brie panini with extra haloumi. The sausages and cheese were shared between us.

R U OK day

The 13 September is R U OK day in Australia, a day that encourages people to really connect with others by asking the simple question "are you okay?" So are you okay? http://www.ruokday.com/ It's just passed midnight here in Aus but still the 13th in most parts of the world.

New Owners

The convenience store downstairs has new owners. I thought something was up when they were throwing a lot of the shelves and stuff out. I went in today get some milk and there was a new guy I had never seen before stocking shelves.

The old owner wasn't as pleasant. She was a blonde middle aged Caucasian lady who kind of always had a bit of a scowl on her face and didn't greet you when you came in.

In other news, went to paddy's markets today and tried on a shirt. I wasn't greeted when I came into the store and when I left, got accused of stealing as there were empty hangers in the change room I was in. Great customer service...

Rex Lookout

This is Rex Lookout, a lookout you drive past on the way to Port Douglas from Cairns. The drive is lovely; on one side, you have the sheer green mountain side and on the other, a view into the coastline with clear blue waters, like above. The only slightly unnerving thing about the drive is the frequent signs of 'beware of falling rocks'. Next time, if I'm a passenger and not the driver, I can just sit, relax and stare out the window at the pretty views and appreciated nature that little bit more.
